It's almost time...for the new Sunday School year to begin! Grow closer to Jesus through a Sunday School class of your choice - everyone is welcome! Come to Stringer Auditorium on September 12 at 10:15 a.m. for a short program, refreshments, and time to meet old or new friends. Nursery care is also available. A new Disciple 1 Bible Study Course will begin on Sunday, September 19 at 6 P.M. This Bible study covers 70% of the Bible in 33 weekly 2 hour sessions. No prior knowledge of Scripture is required but a willingness to read, discuss, and laugh is recommended.

For those who have completed Disciple 1 and wish to continue with the Disciple Bible Study, we will again offer shortened 16 week courses. Please contact the church office if you have an interest to Disciple 1 or an advanced Disciple Study Group.

Women’s Bible Study begins on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room. Sandi DeLong will lead the study.

Mission Emphasis for September is Red Bird Mission. Use your blue envelop or a yellow pew envelop and mark it “Red Bird” to make your donation. Thank you.

Women’s Tea & Dress Barn Fashion Show on Sept. 19 at 12:15 pm. In Stringer. Please sign up by Sept. 12 to attend our Women’s Tea and Dress Barn Fashion Show. There will be a free will offering taken. Come out and bring your friends.

Pocono Plateau Family Retreat, Sept. 24-26- Please sign up on the bulletin board poster. Guest accommodations include heated dormitory-style lodges, carpeted meeting rooms, and an open-air pavilion. Three hot meals a day are served buffet style in the Dining Hall. This is a great time for the whole family. The theme for the retreat is: “Joy Ride: How to get Joy into your Life." New UMW (United Methodist Women) fundraiser: Church calendars are available now. The price is $13. Please make your checks payable to UMW. Midtown Parish is the beneficiary. Calendars are available during fellowship time and a sign up sheet for orders is on the bulletin board outside of Stringer. Calendars run from September 2010 to September 2011. Be sure to get yours soon! Limited number available.

“Nickels for Nets” The Goal - To: “Save A Life” Prevent mosquitoes from spreading Malaria A Large Jar has been placed in the Narthex to collect your loose change each Sunday.

Time to Prepare Fall Care Packages. Sunday, Sept. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 24 United Methodist Women will have boxes outside Stringer to receive gifts for this fall’s CARE PACKAGES for LUMC college youth and military. Items should be small, light-weight, non-perishable, non-crushable –and enough! Summer Worship Schedule (Fall Schedule Begins September 12th)
9:00 a.m. – Traditional Service Nursery care available every Sunday for infants – age 3.
9:15 – 10:00 a.m. Summer Sunday School
For ages 4 through 3rd grade. (No Sunday School will be held on July 4, August 1, or September 5 so that children can participate in Holy Communion with their families.)
10:00 – 10:30 a.m. fellowship and refreshment time between the services. We encourage you all to attend the fellowship time as well as your choice of worship time. It is important to connect with one another.
10:30 a.m. – PRAISE! – Contemporary Service
Nursery care available every Sunday for infants – age 3.
